Martell VS is a French cognac of the Very Special (VS) category with 40% strength, produced by one of the oldest cognac houses in France — Martell, founded in 1715 by Jean Martell in the Cognac region. Today the brand is part of Pernod Ricard and is recognized as one of the most famous cognac producers in the world.
The cognac is created from carefully selected eaux-de-vie (grape distillates) that are aged for at least two years in French oak barrels. The blend usually includes about 20–30 different eaux-de-vie, which creates a balanced and harmonious taste.
A distinctive feature of the Martell style is the distillation of clear wines without sediment, which helps preserve the pure fruity aroma of grapes and gives the cognac a softer and more elegant character.
The drink has a rich golden-amber color and an expressive aroma with notes of plum, apricot, caramel, vanilla and candied lemon, complemented by light hints of citrus, pear and spices.
The taste is smooth, fruity and slightly sweet, revealing nuances of apricot, grapes, orange zest, vanilla and cinnamon, along with delicate oak and spicy tones. The texture is round and velvety.
The finish is harmonious and fruity, with subtle notes of wood, spices and fresh citrus.
Martell VS is considered a young and vibrant cognac that is perfect for drinking neat, on the rocks, or in cocktails, especially in classic drinks such as Sidecar or citrus-based mixes.
